Codecademy

Codecademy opening page.
I learned a little coding in college.  The internet was just starting to become really popular back then.  I learned HTML in a secondary education class.  Then I was required to take one CS class.  I learned a computer programing language which is no longer taught or really used.  That was useless.  What I did learn was that I enjoyed the challenge that comes from computer programing.

So I was very excited when I discovered this website where they teach computer programming languages...wait for it...for FREE!  I thought this was too good to be true.  They have to be making money some how.  I did a little reading and found out that they have a 10 million dollar grant that lets them do this for free...no ads.

I went through all the HTML lessons, and it was a good review.  I am now into the CSS lessons, and I have to say that they are very very well done.  They keep them short and interesting, yet a little bit challenging.  They are not too overwhelming and they do enough review to keep you on track.  I am having so much fun doing the lessons, that I'm working on them instead of reading or pinteresting.

I think this would be a great homeschooling resource.  Also, a great resource for kids during the summer.  Moms!  Check it out!
