I'm in the Club!

Yes, we shop at Wegman's.  Yes, this is one of their plush bathrooms.
We use one that looks just like this regularly.

I wanted to share an experience I had last week while using one of these bathrooms.  I had three of my kids waiting outside the bathroom with the cart (the older one was in charge).  I was taking three of my kids to the bathroom before continuing my shopping.  As I came out of the bathrooms herding my children as I went, I saw a nice looking while haired old lady wiping down the sinks with a paper towel.  She was obviously not an employee at Wegmans.  Why was she wiping down the sinks?  Was it because she wanted to do a good turn?  Was it because she was just in the habit of it?  Was it because she had some time on her hands?  As I herded my children out the door she smiled at me in one of those sweet grandmotherly ways that I find to be completely disarming.  She said, "How many children do you have?"  I said that I had 6.  She then told them that she has 8 children.  In that moment I loved her.  I felt like I was part of her club.  The club of big families, where mom's have to learn how to do things the most efficient way possible just to survive.  The club where wiping down the sink in the Wegmans is an acceptable and understandable thing to do, because you are so in the habit of doing it, that you automatically do it wherever you go!  Thanks for letting me into your club! You may not remember me ever again, but I will remember you.
